"Dogs have masters or mistresses, and cats have staff."

Garfield is a tabby cat. So is Puss in Boots from the Shrek movies. Sounds like living with Gingersnap might be a bit of a movie too. Looking for a cat with this much attittude?

Poli-sci prof writes: Gingersnap is a stray but not wild cat who is now living with me. I've put over $500 into my vet's holiday fund to make sure Ginger is in good health, and neutered. (He didn't thank me for that.) He's about 5 years old, missing half an ear, and is a beautiful red tabby with white markings. But Ginger is taking over the roost here -- leaning on my other two cats, and generally making their lives miserable. While I had planned on keeping him, I need peace in the house and thus I am looking for a good home for this boy.

Given his territorial and dominant personality, he'd do best as an only cat. He does co-exist with my dog, in a state of mutually armed truce. He's smart, happy to have an ear rub, and likes a warm spot to snooze. He likes his Fancy Feast for breakfast.

He is about 14 pounds. He would not be happy being in all the time, though he now appreciates his comfort and generally sits on the doorstep for a couple of hours and wanders the street for a few minutes. He's neutered, vaccinated (needs boosters, which are free) and microchipped. He's not a real lap cat: he'll sit for a bit, then wander -- and on occasion, he will threaten to bite if he wants to be left alone, though he's never actually bitten me. He doesn't agree to be picked up, though he will jump up. I wouldn't want him with tiny children for this reason. He's obviously been someone's pet before he was dumped or otherwise lost.

You know the truism: dogs have masters or mistresses, and cats have staff.

*This one comes from an email forum, so there is no link. The cat's a Reginan though: if you're interested in Gingersnap, contact me and I'll put you in touch with Gingersnap's owner.
