I used to have an AFX slot car racing track. It was figure eight track. There was a black van with orange trim. Underneath the car was a pin, like a record player, and two metallic pads that would pick up the track's electricity. Yellow and orange "pistols" controlled how much much electricity to deliver to your car. Too much, and you'd roll off the corner. Too little, and your little car would grind to a halt. It was fun stuff. For about 7 minutes. The cars' engines would give off a vague scent of burning electricity and copper wires.
